About the Directorate

About Us

The Directorate for Research and Development of Federal Polytechnic Ekowe was established as an integral component of the institution’s academic planning framework. Initially administered under the Academic Planning Division, it was elevated to a standalone directorate following formal approval by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE). The Directorate catalyzes innovation, supports scholarly inquiry, and advances excellence in science, technology, engineering, and entrepreneurship to serve national developmental priorities.

Directorate Profile

Founded in 2018, the Directorate functions as the institutional nerve center for research coordination and development. It was inaugurated under the leadership of Dr. Olusegun A. Kuforiji during the Rectorship of Dr. Enetimi I. Seiyaboh. The current Director, Dr. Blessing C. Okogbue—a Chief Lecturer in the Department of Oceanography and Fisheries Science—has expanded the Directorate’s mandate through capacity-building initiatives in modern research methodologies, artificial intelligence applications, and technical scientific communication.
